22re bad stuck piston rings?
i have 93 22re pickup 2wd. 130,000 miles
its runs super rough the engine shacks alot. its consuming around 1 quart of oil in 300 miles. seems to be burning and coming out the back. spark plug 3 is covered in oil. spark plug 4 is oil fouled less so.
still getting 27mpg but less power. smoking out the back a little not drastic white/grey not blue that i can tell
Looked at it with buddies that know more then me. consensous was the piston rings. but maybe its possible that they are stuck and not bad
ran some seafoam through it. am interested in the posibility of a stuck ring and recipies/soaks to free it.
have not done a compression test
started to do a drip down test, air was getting by number 3 and coming out the open oil cap on the crank case reading at 80 percent. number 4 read at 30 percent.
is this enough to diagnosis a piston ring?
does anyone know how to tell between a stuck or worn out piston ring?
would the engine still be running with a stuck ring?
are they common on 22re especially since only 130,000 miles
can you replace piston ring from underneath without taken the engine out?
ive heard mixed opinions on this.
if the piston ring is stuck. recipies to free it. seafoam? diesel? breakfluid?
other possibilities
any options that are not a rebuild im in a bind and dont know if i can swing that right now
thanks much
