22re back to basics 1st timer rebuild questions

I picked up a long block off craigslist 5 or 6 years ago with a blown head gasket for a $100 a while back. I was going to teach myself how to rebuild it on my own. I broke it down within an hour and a half and crated it up and there it has sat for years.
I finally have some time to dig it up (and a small budget) and get going. On a basic first step level: what do I need to ask a machine shop to do to the block to prep it for assembly? I've talked to some over the years and they seam to be veg when they find out I'm not going to use them for the whole build? I have a engr master kit I had the block mic'd it's std bore, std crank, and I had the rods resized. But as far as the block, what needs to be done/checked and whats a reasonable quote?

*** I'm in Vegas and if any locals know a good toyota shop please let me know!!!

Just who measured the block and crank and what were the numbers??

How many thousands was the block out top to bottom??

Do you have any idea of the mileage on the engine

I have never been so lucky to have block that did not need some boring to get the egg shape out.

I can understand not getting any real answers from places that did not know you .

People put a engine together wrong and then machine shop always gets the blame

If every thing is standard .

Just put it together

What does it look like from being in storage all these years?

Nice Mirror finish to the crank?? Cylinders have a nice cross hatch pattern??

Gotta learn things I am teaching myself gynecolgy

A machine shop I did find that was really great had me bring it by and they measured and looked at it. It was so long ago and I don't have the terminology down but the crank was std, the bore did not need to be bored ( I THINK it was .030 if thats a number but I could be way off) there is some cross hatch marks and the guys said it looked really good shape. But I took it apart so the cross hatching is left over from the last rebuild. Just need to polish the crank, maybe balance.
I know enough to be dangerous. I know a little about the steps and I'm pretty mechanically gifted and can follow directions and manuals well. None of the manuals seem to cover block prep they assume a block thats done.
I know: magnaflux for cracks, dip for surface rust and channels clear, wire brush all channels, MAYBE bore over, MAYBE deck, and ream for good cross hatching....? Am I close. And whats a reasonable estimate to expect??? Thanks again.

Resurface is about the same.

Grab yourself a chilton or haynes manual. If you cannot follow the instructions for whatever reason, you should probably bring it to a shop.

Get your hands on the Factory Service Manual the others are good for starting fires.

Real Good for doing Engine Rebuilding.

I,m in vegas to and my engine is in the shop as we speak. They charged me 100 for boring and honing, 65 for hot tank and 75 for decking. I am just going to buy a new crank as they charge 105 to grind when i can buy a new one with king bearings for 205.
