22re 85 vs 86

I have an 86 4runner...had to replace the engine...I had a lot of the parts powdercoated...one of the parts was the lower intake manifold from an 85 celica...I reassemble it to find the injectors have a good 3/8" travel...I remember them being tighter...

Everythign seems to line up properly except for this injector thing...It appears that the fuel rail is up against the mounting tabs as far as it can go. Is there a difference between an 86 22re and one from an 85 celica?...Near as i can figure there has to be some sort of "shoulder" piece missing ot the manifolds are slightly different...I am stumped...can anyone enlighten me with more information?

Thanks

James

your not missing the o-ring flange thingy on the end of the injectors are you??

If so, the hole will seem too large as well.
BTW- this one is crap & falling apart, so...

they're called fuel injector o-rings, even if that's not the true name, the person at the autoparts store should know what ur talking about unless they're mechanically challenged.

that's actually a hard to find part, the only way i've seen to get them is to buy a "fuel injector seal kit" that has the small o-ring for the fuel rail side, the big grommet for the intake manifold, the grooved o-ring that goes in front of that, and some big mystery o-ring that i didn't need. need 1 kit per injector, ended up costing me $20.

that only gets you the little o-rings for the fuel rail side of the injector. this is the part you want, x4:

Better off spending the extra cash and get the complete kit. I tried to save some cash and use the old ones first time I fired it up it pissed fuel everywhere so I put all new seal on the injectors porblem solved. Advance Auto parts can order them.
