22R swap...Need a shop to re-tune
The 22R (carb) in my '87 spun a rod bearing at 223K (someone along the line forgot to change the oil) so I traded for a 81 complete motor with only 5k on it after a complete rebuild with an upgraded valve train (stock ratio rockers, springs, and a custom Crower Cam). The 81 had a CA smog legal Weber set-up that i had to ditch and go back to the 87 smog junk so it would pass smog. It runs ok, timing is set at 5º and the carb is a little rich for safety purposes. My question is, does anybody know of a shop in southern Cali that can do an accurate tune on a '87 carb set-up so that this thing runs great? Any help would be great.

There`s not much to tune up on a 22R, make sure the timing is set right, adjust the valves, new plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor, and that`s about it. Also make sure the vacuum hoses are good and hooked up properly.

Very true, but I am pretty sure that the stock carb will need to be re-jetted because of the cam. I checked the valves when I installed the engine and they are adjusted properly. Only thing I am dodgy on is the vacuum hose routing. I am pretty sure that it is not 100%, I have worked only older carbs with A LOT less lines and newer cars with almost no vacuum hoses, so this mid eighties carb spaghetti mess confuses me like a fat kid in candy land.
