22R and power steering?
Has anyone put the Power steering pump on a 22R motor before? I notice the pulleys don't line up on the 22R. Is it possible to use the crankshaft/timing pulley off of a 22RE for this?
Ive read tons on people converting their 22R's to 22RE's but not one article mentioned the difference in the crank pulleys!!! The 22RE has 3 and the 22R has 2.
on my 22R only one belt is used. Runs the waterpump, fan and alternator. I'd imagine the second pulley was for A/C? seeing as how it doesnt line up with a '88 power steering pump and idler pulley. The PS pump pulleys are one more pulley out from the engine, one more pulley and it'd line up perfect).
hence 3 pulleys. 22r only has two
Or is my '87 22R (carb obviously) just weird?
any help appreciated!

More specific questions
anyone know where i can find a 22RE crankshaft pulley or whatever you wanna call the pulleys on the front of the crank BESIDES the dealer?
Second, any suggestions for hooking the air hoses from the p/s pump up to? Just route them into the intake possibly? I understand they only measure vaccum off how much air the engine is sucking to balance how much power to send to the P/S box.
help!

On my factory 22R PS setup, it doesn't have the idle up hoses. If the engine is running well, they shouldn't be necessary. Even at full lock, I only get about a 100RPM drop at idle. Oh and it came with a 3 pulley crankshaft pulley. I think the extra one bolts to the 2 pulley one.

All 22r's have a 2 pulley Balancer. The 3rd pulley is a bolt-on addition for the power steering belt.
Carb pumps dont have the valve, where as Injected do. If you have a carbbed truck, and an injected pump, just disregard the valve.
Where are you located? We sell them at here at Nix99.

My 84 SR5 22R came with factory power steering. The crank pulley has 3 groves, 1 for AC and air pump, one for waterpump/alternator, and one for power steering. The pump itself does not have the vacuum valve on it, I think that only showed up on EFI trucks.

Sweet, finally proof the 22r did come with Power Steering! I searched high and low and couldn't find out if the 22r ever came with P/S.
Im down here in Olympia. I'm waiting on a reply from the guy I got the P/S setup from to get the 3rd pulley as well.
Should I just leave the the valve open or somehow plug it or does it matter?
Off subject, how do you like your Webber carb 4Rocker? How does it perform on the steep inclines. Stock carb fights to stay alive on anything remotely steep. Im planning to do the 22r to 22re conversion and even looking at 22reT(urbo).. Seen some guys do that with success.
