22-re AUTO won't hesitate and surge in PARK

I have a 91 22re (EFI) and had just finished putting a new head gasket. Timing marks (5 degree and short the TE1 and E) are correct and valve adjustments has been checked. The car starts out fine in Park, but once I shift into DRIVE OR REVERSE...the car hesitate and dies. I've thought it would be the egr modulator valve, spark plug and wires, checked all vacuum lines and devices on top of valve cover, the air mass at the air filter..but changed all items and swap with a cousin of mine who has a 95 22re, nothing...the 22re is still hesitating in PARK, once i shift to DRIVE it dies give up ....can this be a TPS...any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated...

OK,

Are you sure the cam is properly timed to the crank? New chain usually has two silver color links. Crank sprocket "dot" is set at bottom with one silver link and cam sprocket "dot" is at top and inserted in other silver link.

Have you jumpered the computer to retrieve any set codes?

What does the engine vacuum read at hot idle?

Have you done a compression test?

Fuel pressure regulator vacuum line correct?

Poisoned O2 sensor can cause lean conditions....did you use SENSOR SAFE silicone sealant?

Yeah, TPS needs to be working and set properly for a good idle.

Just some ideas........and, may want to recheck all your vacuum lines.

def. recheck vacuum lines, neutral safety switch may have went. 02 sensor went bad causing engine to stall with load. i would say it has to do with engine load though.

I GOT IT TO DRIVE!!! YESSSS
Thank you for your help SEAIRESCUE and needsomecam!
I rechecked all lines and markings on timing chain and everthing is correct.
I even replaced the TPS and nothing happened...then I started to back track the last time the car was working, which is right before I messed with he valve adjustments and the SPARK PLUG might be F%*& up...so I took out the 1st piston spark plug and what do you know...the spark tip (ground electrode) had NO GAP... thanks guys!!!
