210k Time for a new Japanese motor and tranny!
I have 210 k miles on a 94 4runner. My tranny won't shift into the last gear at about 60mph. I have to run it at 4000 rpm.
I also have NO power, can't tow anything.
So what are my alternatives.
I hear about Jap motors with low miles being sold, is this the cheapest method to getting my rig running like a bear?
Also what should I do about the tranny?
Thanks

If you have a 22re you might want to research it.
The guy that built my engine said that those motors are a 21r and use a 20r head. He said that they didn't release the 22r for sale in japan. He has had a few people come into his shop having problems with them.

When was the last time you did a tuneup (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing)?
I'm assuming it's an automatic - when was the last time the fluid was flushed/replaced?
