2 Questions re: Lower Control Arm Bushing R&R

After doing a lot of searching, I still have two questions:

1. For the lower control arm, one side only, are the two bushings identical? From looking at the schematic, it appears they are the same.

2. THe FSM says to remove the ball joint from the control arm (where the castle nut is) requiring a puller and possibly a PITA (recently replaced the ball joints and had to take it to shop because I just couldn't get it separated). Wouldn't it be easier to just unbolt the ball joint from the steering knuckle and leave it attached to the LCA? Just 4 easy bolts to remove and no press-fit parts. Should I buy new bolts if I do it this way?
