Manual trans, or automatic? I don't believe a manual trans has ever been used behind a 1UZ in anything toyota brought to the US.

There never was.

A 3SGTE flywheel is supposed to work in an A340E bellhousing though, when joined to an R series trans.

Cougar you can add to the world on the above not just US.
Toyota never mated the 1uzfe to a manual anywhere in the world.

I have a 3SGTE ( 2nd gen MR2 turbo)flywheel behind my 1UZFE. They both have the same number of mounting holes, but the 1UZFE uses a larger radius. I had a machinist plug the original crank mounting holes and then redrill the 1UZFE pattern. The only other mod needed is to file a chamfer on the ring gear teeth since the 1UZFE starter is mounted on the engine side compared to the trans side on th 3SGTE. The 3.0l clutch bolts on with no mods.

Thats killer! Where the heck did you find an adapter plate around here? I really want to do this swap, but I have had a heck of a time finding anything locally.

Motor seems to run about 2k...

I made the adapter plate out of 3/8" steel. Been working great so far. I picked my motor up off CL for $500 without ECM etc.
If anyone is interested maybe I'll do a build thread since there seems to be very few completed 1UZFE swaps in pick ups/4runners that are LHD and IFS.

I would be extremly interested! I have yet to find a complete v6/1uzfe IFS r150f swap. And in my neck of the woods at that!!

So with the adapter plate, did you have to extend your transmission input shaft?

Sorry for the thread jack!!!

The R150F has a 160 mm input shaft (longer), so the extension on the adapter was to line it up with the 1uz crank. Not sure the difference between the R151F and the R150F??
