1st Gen Bumpers on a 2nd Gen...Can it work?

I have the oportunity to get some free Smittybuilt front and rear bumpers for a 1st gen. They need to be sand blasted and powdercoated.

My question is if I can get these to fit my 2nd gen by cutting off the mounting tabs and fabbing new tabs? Is the basic wrap-around shape the same? Has anyone seen this done? I searched but didn't find anything answering my question. Thanks.

Well if your going to fab them... then i dont see why not. If you were just going to try to bolt them up as is wont work.

The overall shape is about the same then? I just didn't want to pay the frieght to get these things here just to find out the ends point into the headlights...or something like that.

Thanks for the reply...I would think someone on this forum had attempted this before.

quoting Addicted Off Road's web site:

"...winch bumpers for 1984-1995 pickups and 4runners. These bumpers are bolt-on units. Simply remove your current front bumper and valance and bolt them on."

that basically means to me that all the mounting holes should be the same; or maybe just AOR specifically makes them to be able to fit all of the applications

I'm trusting this anyway, as I have an order in for a front bumper for my 91 in from them

That is good to hear/read. Even if they add additional holes, that will just be a matter of drilling in mine....now to see whether or not they can be shipped, and if so, what the fee will be.

Thank you!
