hate to say it but 15-17mpg is what i was getting with my 3.0 5sp in my 94 on 31s and stock gears..

i am getting 14-17 mpg with my 3.0 auto with 265/75R16s and 4.56 gears.

add .4 liters of displacement if you want better gas milage.. i get upwards of 20 mpg with 35s

My cruise didn't work and it was a vacuum leak inside the actuator. Not sure if the 87 and 94 actuators are similar. I took mine apart, sealed up the cracks in the diaphram with silicone, and put it back together. Works like new. If the light is constant it's trying to work it just can't hold a vacuum.

I have a 1994 4X4 V6 manual with 119K miles. Im original owner.

I have changed air filter, plugs, dist wires and cap, fuel filter, new battery, I rebuilt the starter, changed timing belt, all seals, just completed valve cover change, regularly change oil, changed both O2 sensors. I've learned how to do this all from contributors of yotatech. I did all this to learn and keep my truck maintained.

Even after doing all this, my gas mileage is still 14mpg around city. I do have the big tires though. I have kept my truck all stock.

After that all said, now Im going to focus on getting better gas mileage. Im going to focus on what Abecedarian and TNRabbit said earlier - TPS. I will follow the writeup and see what and if this is causing my low mileage.

test your fuel pressure regulator....it gets over looked, but if it doesn't function correctly it could possibly contribute to bad fuel mileage

Signs of a Bad Fuel Pressure Regulator

* The vehicle engine runs rough and often stumbles and sputters.
* The vehicle engine will not start after ignition. Usually, this is problem is encountered in the morning when you start your vehicle. Many a times, the engine starts, but stalls shortly after starting.
* The fuel pump in the vehicle becomes noisy at times.
* A bad fuel pressure regulator can also result in fouled spark plugs.
* Last but not the least, the fuel mileage of the engine decreases noticeably

Hell, and I was actually pretty excited for myself the other day after I filled up and realize i got juuuuuuuuuuuust over 15mpg (like 15.08 or something actually).

I'd NEVER expect anything near 20mpg outta this thing.

Hey :} thanks for the lead. I will look into the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

I dont have any of the issues you listed other than 14mpg. I will look into the forums fo a link to what a FPR is, how to find it, test it and fix. Many thanks. If anyone has a link, please post. Many thanks. It would be helpful for me an others who have this same issue.

Just to throw a wrench in things I have a 94 with only 30k original miles on it. Granted I drove all city miles but I am getting 11-12 mpg. Seriously? This thing is bone stock. O2 sensor must be good, so what the heck do I do now?

Thanks!!

Also, does your cruise light blink when you try to set it?

I have a 94 toyota pickup with 31's and when I go to use the cruise sometimes it will blink . . . I'm guessing you know what this means, and its linked to gas mileage??
