1994 4runner 3.4 swap help

I started my 3.4 swap on my 4runner since the 3.0 finally bit the dust. A couple months ago i bought a wrecked 98 with a parts runner for the body panels and a couple other things but I still almost have a complete 4runner and I'm going to put the motor to good use in this 94.

My first question is could i just swap the entire wiring harness over from the 98 and run it throughout the dash and everything or would it be better to just wire it in another way. I'm not looking to spend a fortune on this swap so I'm using all the resources I have.

My next question is both my 94 and the 98 I'm using for the motor and wiring are automatics and I have a 5 speed and just about everything to do the swap but what do I do about the ecu and wiring?

My last question is the 98 I'm using for parts has a 2' body lift will it work in the 94 so I dont have to buy another body lift or cut a hole in the hood.

This is all the farther I am so far. Does anyone have any advice on doing this swap?

And I know to search for the questions I have but I couldnt find anything on a couple of them so I just put this all in one thread

Have you read through the 3.4 swap stickies ??

How are your wiring skills .

You just need to get the 4th plug for the 98 3.4 ECM and wire it up to the 94

Plus run the OBII connection

Pulling the whole dash apart to remove and install the harness is time consuming but an option.

There is way to make the ECM work with the 5 speed and a write up in the 3.4section

Not sure about the body lift But if they are just spacers I can`t see why it won`t work

You could, but that would be so much more work than you need to do. Pull the dash harness out of the 98, cut off the 2 connectors that plug into the engine harness (leave yourself 6-12" of wire). Then, from the 3.0 engine harness cut off the connectors that plug into the 94's dash harness (again, leave 6-12" of wire). Eventually, you'll use those 4 connectors to create a "conversion harness" to plug the 3.4's untouched engine harness into the 94's untouched dash harness, all the conversion will be done in this conversion harness.

Or you can pay ORS or TOS to create that conversion harness for you (to the tune of $400-600?).

Find a 98 M/T ECU, convert the 98's engine harness from an auto pin out to a manual pin out; this will be an involved process, but isn't too bad.

I would NOT try to reuse the 98's body lift on the 94. For the little bit of money it will cost, just buy a new body lift for the 94; I went with a 1.5" on my 91 and that clears the engine with ease.

Do yourself a favor and read through some of the various swap threads in the 3.4 swap section, of note make sure to read through and memorize Elvota's swap thread.

Keep reading and searching, everything has been covered, but it's all scattered around the 3.4 swap forum.
