1994 22re into 1986 wiring problem

So i iahve an 86 4runner. The engine finally died in it The engine couldn't be rebuilt so I found a donor engine out of a 94 still stock just a spun bearing so goin to rebuild it. Get a new head from engine builder and goin to use most of the parts from my 86 so it will be a direct swap just wanting to update the wiring. Most of all the connector r broke from PO. But I can't find a harness for it. So was planning on building one to keep cost low.
So here the issue can I just repin the 94 for my 86 or will the sensor work and injector d/t some of the resistor in the newer injector

found a 1994 22re engine. My 86 engine finally blew and I'm trying to find a wiring diagram for the engine harness. Looked pretty much everywhere for an engine harness to swap in but they r just as bad as the one I got. Goin to build a new one. But need help finding a good place to find all new connector and a diagram to make a new harness. Planing on laying my harness out and coping it. Just need a place to find the pins and connector. Hopefully soldier the thing together and hope for the best. Or if anyone who know who makes a harness. Contacted several companies. But they want a arm and a leg for the harness. Need list Connectors Diagram Individual that makes 1986 harness or someone who wants to sell me a extra 86 harnes

I'm sure there r forum on this and I have looked but if anyone can point me to one that would be great for specifically to my issues
Also if some has a 86 harnes they want to get rid send me a message.

Subscribed. My 87 harness is in seriously bad shape after several previous owners and nearly 500k miles!

I would love to do a new one myself with the newer connectors. Those wire clip ones are crap

I get my injector connectors from www.connectorsfast.com Great guy to deal with.

A salvage I deal with B&B Import 800-477-8282, Nixa Mo I am sure would have one and will ship. He charges me $100 for if I pull it. It will be more for shipping and him pulling it.

You can also place a Want to Buy Ad and there are some vendors on here as well.

So got a few things done today. Tore the 94 block down and I'm thinking it has never been rebuilt but not sure. The bore measure 91.8 or 9 mm. But I have a cheap set of calipers. And I will put some pic of the crank and the wear.

First rebuild so I'm not sure what I'm looking at. But everything seem to measure stock. Just hope that the crank can be ground down to get back to smooth. All the bearing were starting to wear but I guess that to be expected in an engine that has 191k on it.

The block was reprinted a blue color so I assumed it had been rebuild but still not sure the piston all r aisin piston so who know.

The bore looks all smooth but I don't have the tools to measure to see if their is any misshaping to it.
Figured I would rebuild it and add all my 86 stuff back to it.

Most of the bearing look kinda like this maybe not as bad

Measure just under 92 mm

Rod journal measure 2.08 or so

All the bore look clean no scatches

All the parts to be cleaned and reprinted

And finally the poor runner to be revived

This cam bear was toast. Wasn't much left in the journal so hoping it can be fixed

So a long journey ahead but go I take my time and do it right.
Any info

I am not as familiar with the 89-94 trucks. They use several of the same sensors but Toyota changed the plugs to a different plug connectors. The injectors are between 86 and the 94 are different resistance and that is engineered into the computer I think so would not swap those.

Ask some of the part store people in your area who they would recommend. Some of them are mechanics and use some shops or deal with several mechanics who deal with machine shops.

I'm in a similar situation with my '87 4Runner that I bought for the clean southern body. It came without an engine and the harness was chopped pretty badly. I also have a complete rusty '87 4Runner with a blown head gasket that will be a donor. I bought a totaled '94 truck with a recently rebuilt engine that I pulled and plan to put in the 4Runner.

Here is what I have concluded is the best course of action for my situation which is similar to yours:
  • Use '87 injectors (I'm buying rebuilt ones to make sure they are good while I have the engine out where it is easy to work on.)
  • Use the '87 ECU
  • Use the '87 TPS
  • Use the '87 wiring harness
  • Keep the '94 intake manifold (some performance improvements)

I anticipate some problems with the connectors like you are having. Hopefully I'll have enough between the three vehicles to make it work.
