1994 22re coolant leak, back of block
Howdy.
I discovered today that I had a pretty bad coolant leak.
It was a warm day, so I had the temp control set to the coolest (AC wasnt on) on my way to the bank. I came out from the bank and see about half a quart of coolant on the ground.
It was coming from the back of the block, and seemed to be running down mostly on the driver side of the bellhousing. If I run the heater when I drive, it doesnt drip AT ALL when I it off.
Ideas?
Carpet is dry, and all the coolant hoses going into the cab appear to be dry.
Maybe a freeze plug?
Head gasket? I don't think its a head gasket, it doesn't seemed to have lost any power.

There is a plate that bolts to the back of the head. Its a coolant journal. More than likely thats your leak. Not sure if you can buy just that gasket or if ya have to buy a whole head gasket kit. Its real hard to see cause its right against the firewall. Get an inspection mirror and a flashlight and check it out.
