Anyone got a source for a couple of leaf spring hangers for my '93? Driver's side is getting punky, gonna have to cut it off...just a plow truck, cheep / used is fine, or even home-made!
You do know getting the bolts out can be a royal pain.
They get corroded to the sleeve and will not come out.
I have never been able to get them out .
Most times I cut the head off and as much of the bolt as possible then pry the spring hanger open and pry the spring out and throw it in the scrap pile.
I cut the shackles...I think I can rebuild it! (70s joke there). Burned out the bushing at the spring, just gonna replace it. Need to get the shackle bolt out of hanger, but they say that's not so bad...they say.
The hangers are not TOO bad actually, now that I can get up close, but the inner frame behind driver's side is gone for a ways. Bottom, too. Outer wall is still OK. But the 'edges' of the holes look to be solid thick weldable metal, so I'm going to go for the farm repair and plate inner & bottom, UP to the hanger, tack the hanger to the repair plates, and call 'em good....seem ok? Or just too much of a hack? Remember, <5mph
