hi, its my first post here but have stalked for a while. ok here we go. my 4runner has the knock sesnor fault code. have all the parts, but not a lot of time. my main concern is that its got a misfire on cylinders 3 and 5. changed plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. then i read about the vsv on the powersteering pump and put 2 and 2 together since i was losing the atf without visible leaks. anyways, thought for sure that it would fix the misfire if i could just cap of the vacuum and the plug the vsv. still have the misfire and i have no idea where to go from here. i dont have a compression tester but as soon as i get the chance ill post the results here. any tips would be great. could it just be alot of gunk in those 2 cylinders? thanks alot guys.

When you say misfire, do you mean you're not getting ANY fire on those cylinders or it's firing inconsistently?

If the former, I'd suspect valves stuck open.

Have you checked to see that you'r getting a consistent, strong spark on those plugs?

Could be injector issues, also.

Let us know what your compression readings are.

check compression with engine warm, ALL plugs removed, igniter & VAFM disconnected, & throttle wide open.
