1991 V6 4-runner won't start

I have rebuilt the whole motor, bored 010 over, new valves, pistons, oil pump, timing belt, main and rod bearings, crank turned. Now it will not start. It tries.

Compression is only 95 psi in all cylinders
Leak down is 5 percent in all cylinders
I don't know what I missed
I set the timing six times and it comes out the same.

Help,Brain Fart

Sound like cam timing is off at a minimum. 95 psi is unacceptable. I'm guessing valves are opening at inappropriate times. Did you use one of the DOZENS of threads here to walk you through the timing belt install?

Also, is the VAFM connected? It won't run without it....

OK,I got the yota to run. Now it spits out a code 22,25,41,and 52.
So I replaced the knock sensor and wire, the tps,and coolant temp sensor. Now I go about 255 miles and code 52 shows up again. If I shut it off it clears itself then spits out code 25 and 52.

any Ideas,Brain Fart

did u replace the sensor with new or used? the wire could of popped off. or bad wire, code 25 is refering to a Air–Fuel Ratio Lean Malfunction

• Engine ground bolt loose
• Open in E1 circuit
• Open in injector circuit
• Fuel line pressure (injector blockage,
etc.)
• Open or short in heated oxygen
sensor circuit
• Heated oxygen sensor
• Ignition system
• Engine coolant temp. sensor
• Volume air flow meter (Air intake)
also said ecu.... im thinking u check all wire connections and look at the 02 sensor.

if u want or need to look up codes

Code 52, Knock sensor. Use premium gasoline.

If your code 52 only comes up after a little bit of driving then it is probably your knock sensor still. I had a code 52 come up also but only after hitting around 2000rpms. I was about to replace the sensor along with the pigtail, but somewhere I read that the 3vze engine runs at its best with premium gasoline. So I replaced my fuel pump, fuel filter and only started using 87-91 octane gasoline and the code 52 never came up again. Its been about 2 months and no CEL. When I had a code 52, my mpgs were around 12, now its at around 18mpgs. So if you have replaced the fuel pump, and filter, try using premium gas if you can afford it. That's what did the trick in my 3vze, hopefully it helps with yours!
