I don't know the 3.0 but did enjoy the read and discovery that you guys found. I have an 85 FSM and have found an error in it. Just cant remember what it was.
Another error they have in my manual is the Igniter and some other part I cant think right off is switched. The heading and the test procedures are for the wrong part image. Under one of them is the error for the test.

Wow, I thought I was clever for finding a word spelled wrong in the FSM!
Some systems keep the thermostat at the bottom, supposed to keep the radiator from being blasted with hot coolant the instant the stat opens.

I'm assuming the thermostat opens gradually (since as soon as it flows, cool coolant from the rad closes it) so the "heat shock" of the radiator is more gradual. I think I read that it controls the engine temp better, as you control the temp of coolant that enters the engine, instead of only guaranteeing the output is hot. I'm not 100% sure.
