We've had this 1990 pickup 2wd with 22RE just sitting in our yard for a while, but it's come time to put it back together and get it running again.

Sofar it's all back together the way it should be BUT it won't fire up. It fires right up if I spray starting fluid down the intake, but as soon as it has burned all of that off it dies. The gas tank is pressurized, so I assume the fuel pump is working. I tried to see if gas would shoot out of the disconnected fuel line, but nothing came out. However I did not have the starter in the engine, nor was it hooked up. Is it safe to assume the fuel pump won't send gas down the lines until the computer sees the engine cranking?

Otherwise, any other issues I should be looking for? Is there a way to test the fuel pump with it still mounted?

Speaking of which where is the fuel pump anyways?

I think I got it, the fuel pump was bad. Went to AutoZone and bought a $50 one, but as it turns out, it's completely the wrong pump, and I don't feel like paying $140 for a new one.
