1990 pickup brake drum won't slide back on

I'm having problems getting my rear brake drum back on, I took it off and replaced my wheel cylinders and now I can't get it back on. The e brake isn't on it just seems like the shoes are too tight, is there any way I can adjust them to make them come in soooo I can slide the drum over it?

You can adjust the star-wheel adjuster. But you shouldn't have to unless you also replaced the shoes or the drums. Perhaps the shoes are not centered or installed properly.

you have to turn the adjuster almost all the way in for it to slide on easily and after its on adjust your brakes thru the slot on the back..needs to be a little space otherwise u will be burning up some brakes...double check e-brake cable..that has to be off olso....if its on by 1 notch it could be like having your e-brake on and the drum will never go back on....G

the star adjuster you should be able to adjust by hand..just turn it in or out whichever way makes the shoes come closer together..if u look at brake plate from behind (sometimes covered with a rubber plug) you will see a slot that allows you to put a tool in there and many just use a slotted screwdriver that allows you to turn the star adjuster and adjust the brakes to make them tighter..for e-brake just make sure its off and theres no tension on it if so disconnect it from lever behind the brakes......also as another said make sure the brake shoes are in fact fitting on properly....G
