1990 Pickup 4x2 IFS to 4x4 IFS?

Ok so I bought this truck the other day for a couple hundred dollars and its only 2 wheel drive but I want to make it 4 wheel drive and I have been searching for anyone who has done it and came up with nothing. I see everyone doing a SAS but I want to hopefully do something that is almost bolt on lol so I dont know anything will help I guess cant make it worse

Pickup eh? Not a 4Runner?
Major undertaking there 'cause the whole chassis is different between 2wd and 4wd trucks. SAS is the only sane option there. There's some work on the rear axle that needs done too 'cause the 2wd has the springs under the axle and the 4wd have springs above the axle, and you'd probably want to change the rear axle out to have matching 6 lug wheels front and rear. You'd need to rework the rear drive shaft as well.

oh sounds like a lot of work lol I bought a 88 Jeep comanche that was 2wd and made it 4wd and it was just pretty much a complete bolt on swap so I was kinda hoping for the same thing here but I never messed with a IFS but I think I may just slam it to the ground now lol I am to lazy and I am not capable of welding to do any of the swapping for a SAS

Sorry I bursted the bubble.

For what it's worth, the 2wd can still be made into a formidable off road vehicle with bolt ons like lift spindles, long travel suspension up front, and top mounting the springs on the rear axle and a limited slip differential or selectable locker in the rear... but that setup is more suitable for desert / dunes / high speed than trails, yet a winch up front could make the truck fun on trails too- you would not have lo range gearing though... you could put a 4wd trans in to get lo range....
Just saying.

My thoughts are that 4wd gets you out of what 2wd gets you stuck in.
If I need 4wd to get somewhere, I better have another option available (winch for instance) to get unstuck should the need arise.

Its all good I mean I could still jack it up but to me a 2wd truck just looks funny unless I want to make it into a stadium truck those look pretty sweet I think but it would be more of a look a like bc there would be no way I could afford to put as much as they do into the suspension or the engines
