1990 4runner 3vze oil cooler ?
Doing a rebuild, mechanic ran into metal shavings in oil cooler off of old engine. Part is discontinued 1571065031, tried to buy one, no dice. Have heard you can wash/clean the cooler, but voids the warranty on reman.
Have read you can bypass the cooler w/ an adapter, to a 2nd filter [bypass type filter like Amsoil]
Any thoughts, part numbers, pics, best avenue of approach etc.? Thanks for the assistance

Wow that's bad if metal in the cooler since its after the filter.
You can fill it with WD40 and set overnight and blow it out with compressed air.
Use a tiny pair of needlenose pliers and pull the bypass valve out of the bolt to clean it up or just leave it out all together.
Rockauto has them as well
