1990 2-door 4 Runner....Rare?
Hi all,
Im looking at a 90 2 door 4-Runner with about 114k miles. Its a 4 cyl, 5 speed SR5.
I was wondering if these 2-doors are rare, I cant remember ever seeing one around.
They are asking $4400 for it.
Thanks

Although the 2 door isn't hugely rare it is an infrequent find. The 4cyl and 5sp would make this one tougher IMO. It seems like all the ones I have seen were v6s. If it wasn't for having a 10 month old son to stuff in the truck, I'd buy that truck myself LOL!

I think they are not as appealing as the 4door Runner (cosmetically and functionally). If you want two doors, go with a first gen. Don't buy it cause it is "rarer" than other Runners. You may end up kicking yourself in the ass for it later.

I used to have a '91 2dr. I wish I had never sold it. Mine was a 4cyl 5spd, no air or power accessories except the back window. I never realized them to be uncommon until I sold it. They are a pain to get into the back seat, especially when you lift it. I only ever rode in the front, so that's what I mostly care about. I think the body style looks a lot better than the 4dr, but that's just my opinion.

I have an 90 with a 22re 5spd, i have only seen one other. but they are more desierable for offroad because of a slightly shorter wheelbase. I got mine for $3200. see it in my pictures.

just picked up mine last week, i was looking for a 4 door and seen this one on the road. followed the guy to a stop light and asked him if it were for sale, and $2000 later i had it in my garage!. V6 ,5speed , and 4x4 of course. one rust spot by the windshield, but other than that it's a champ. i love it

I'm lost here, what is the advantage to this rig? It has two doors, but no removable top. You could get an '89 2 door Runner with the exact same drivetrain and suspension as the '90 or later 2 door. V6 5 spd/auto 22RE 5spd/auto, no real difference there.
I have a first gen, no experience with the second gen rigs. Do the second gens have wider wheel base, or some other redesign feature that makes up for the lack of the removable top?
I drove my 3 year old around to Lowes, Depot, and Costco today in the Runner, a PITA getting him into and out of the back seat. It's raining this week, but as soon as WabFab ships my bikini top (hint, hint) the top is off and throwing the kid in the back seat is as easy as throwing a football, with a little more care, of course.
So, other than the rare factor, what gives?
Mike
