1989 22RE pickup idles and runs worse with the AC on
Hi all.
I'm fairly a good mechanic but I'm also new to this particular truck. I just bought it aweek ago and I'm trying to fix some problems.
First theres a very slight surge at all times. you can barely hear and see it.
second the timing seems to be wrong. when i short the diag pin and attemp to set the timing at 5 degrees, the engine gets weaker and sputters. it runs better after 10-15 degrees. also the distribuitor adjustment gets maxed out when trying to go less than 5 degrees. And timing does not change or does not respond well when shorting out the diag pin Te1 E1 and it always stays the same.
and third observation the truck seems to run better with the AC off. With the AC on the truck is weaker, it idles low, if I attemp to adjust the idle to high..I see the motor shaking a lot.
