1986 Toyota 4x4 dually conversion?
I got a deal on a Toyota dually rearend. My question is is it possible? Is the lug pattern the same? I assume the gear ratio would be different, but what all would need to be done?

the're 2 different duallys, the first ones, up to 88 (I think)were regular 2wd, (5 lugs) trucks, with extended frames, to acomodate the flat bed, and welded lugs for the outer wheels. the newers are real duallys, (6 lugs). but none of them will match your lug pattern.

you have the whole axle?
if so, what's it matter what the lug pattern is? you're not going to be rotating tires front to back.
the potential difficulty i see is matching the gear ratios front to back.
what size is the rear diff on the dually axle? i'd be surprised if it was a toyota 8".
regardless, match the gear ratios, custom fit the driveshaft, hook up the brakes and you should be good to go. then you'll need some custom body work to fit that extra wheel and provide some fender coverage

Back when I worked at a private school one of the guys in the mechanic's shop (they had a huge fleet to maintain) had a 2nd gen with dually rear end. He did the fender flares himself-pretty cool looking truck-wish I had a picture of it.
