1986 Tailgate window INOP
It was working fine then.................I tried to fix it. LOL The glass was scratched with a lot of deep gouges. Well, I had a 89 donor and decided to swap it out. Long story short the 89 glass was a PPG glass and who ever installed the tracks did them wrong. Notice the 89 glass on top of the 86. With the tracks being that far apart it cause the rollers to pop off the track when it is all the way down.
This is the measurements they should have installed the tracks with.
They urethaned them on and I didn't want to risk breaking the glass to get them off. So I put it all back the way it was. Everything was working fine then I swapped the tops from the 89 to the 86. I know about the safety switch on the left side rail for the top. I don't know of any others. When I turn the key I can here the relay click, but no power to the motor. I can use a jump box on the motor and the motor works fine. I also checked the switches on the regulator and seem to be fine. I also tried the switch inside with no luck. I'm not good with schematics, but I saw something that looked like a circuit breaker. Is there one? I checked all of the fuses in the left kick panel. I've thought about swapping the 89 regulator just to see. I only unplugged 3 connectors on the regulator and they all seem to be nice and tight. I also checked the harness for pulled wires. i didn't see any noticeable damage. Any ideas??

Someone tried to do some bodywork and drilled a lot of holes.
It's installed and I took the bolt out to check the switch and the relay quit clicking. I reinstalled the bolt and relay started clicking again with the key switch.
I don't know if it matters or not but I will check the harness going to the rear wiper. If that checks good I will swap the regulators.
Thanks for the help.

I figured it out!! I won't bore you with all of the details of what I did. Since the glass was working before I swapped the tops, I figured it had to be in the top. The 89 top that I swapped over to the 86 didn't have a wiper arm on it. Then it dawned on me that the motor might not be in the off position. I believe the 89 motor was bad because I turned the key on and it didn't rotate to off. I put the 86 wiper motor on and end of story. Little things like that can drive me crazy. LOL

The wiper plug in the corner can be unplugged and the window will still work. If it is plugged in and the wiper not in the right position, power is cut. If the top bolt switch is out, no power. They is a latch switch in the tailgate, if not completely closed, no power and the tailgate must be locked or power is cut.
