14 vs 18 inch magnaflow

It's time to replace my rusted out LC eng muffler which is a 2.25" dia 14" body magnaflow. I would like to go to something a little bit quieter. I am thinking 18" magnaflow. Will there be much difference in sound and performance between the 18" and the 14"?

My vehicle is a 85 4Runner 22RE stock, with LC header, hi flow cat and 2.25" tube.

Thanks

Chris

the 18" will be a little quieter and will probably have a deeper tone to it

Thanks for the info. One more question. My current exhaust is 2.25". The link you posted is for 2.5". Was that a mistake, or should I get the larger inlet/outlet size so I can slide my current pipe inside of it then weld?

Thanks for the help.

no get the 2.25 inch one, then when your shop welds it on..have them expand the end a bit and slide it on...1/4" gap is a little big to be welding up..alot easier to do it with the 2.25"

my 14" magnaflow is quiet dang thing....i wanted somethin with some rumble to it lol...i don't even have a cat!!!!!

I have a 18 inch magnaflow on my 85 runner and it sounds like a rice rocket. Id like to replace it with something else. Just a heads up

Thats what I was thinking. I have pipe expanders and have used them in the past. I'm planning on welding it up myself as I want to redo the location of the rear pipe.

Thanks for the heads up. My 14" one has a nice rumble at idle, but gets a little to ricey and loud above 3K for my taste. Hopefully the 18" won't be any worse.
