** YET another tire/wheel question! 3rd gen wheels on 85 4runner
i just got a set of the 5 star 16" rims off a 3rd gen limited 4runner from a yota tech member, thanks, very nice guy.
Here is the problem, turns out they don't fit! haha..... we both thought they did and the rears do but the fronts will not fit over my hubs.
any solutions to that other then grinding out the hole?? and if i do that, will i ever be able to put them back on a 3rd gen (theres that bevel machined out on the inside that would be gone if i grind it out)??
thanks
also, whats the biggest tire i can run on there?? i have body lift and can fit 33"x12.5 no problem so size should not be an issue. just wondering what my tire options are in the AT variety.

I thought the interference was the steering arms, which would be solved by widen the front axle with IFS hub bodies, spacers or the widening kit from ?

wha? no, i'm sure the back spacing, etc will all be fine, i can't even get the wheel over the hub! the inside diameter on the hole on the rim is about 2mm too small to slip over the manual hubs!

and....the good years on there that are 265/70r16 look narrower then my 31x10.5's and about the same height! i'm looking for a bigger tire, not neccessrily wider but at least as wide and an inch or two taller, what are my options?? i want to retain the handling/speed/milage close to what i have now vs. going back to the terrible performance i had in all three of those departments back when i had 33x12.5 mtr's.

Toyota wheels are lug centric(i.e. they are centered by the lugs), so you shouldn't have any problem with grinding/machining the center hole out and trying to put them on a 3rd gen in the future.
