Question wiper arm removal: 1st Gen 4runner

How do you take the windshield wiper arms off the front window of a 1st gen 4runner. I need to get in there and see if the valance needs to be resealed.

Yeah I searched. And can't find it in the FSM either.

Thanks

carefully pry the plastic covers up and there is a nut that you remove and then you can work the wiper arms loose and remove them.

Kidding, yea what is said above and good luck getting them off. Maybe take the nut off and soak them with your favorite penetrating oil and let them sit for a while.

Check to see if they are keyed in a particular spline, you might want to scribe a alignment mark to make sure they go back on right.

There not keyed, but they can be a pain in the but to get off.

wiper arm removel tool

After Liquid Wrench, banging, prying with a screwdriver, I found there is a tool called a 'wiper arm puller' at Advanced Auto.

I'm getting that f'er! 30-years of salty air, and I was about to get the Sawzall for my 85's wiper arms.

The wiper arm removal tool worked! I had to take a file to the tool 'arms', and put a wrench on the thumb-screw, but it wouldn't have come off any other way. I thought I snapped the wiper arm, it released so violently.
