Where can I get starter contacts?
I had an intermittent click but no crank on the starter--just started to happen 2 weeks ago. Had to push start it yesterday so I want to fix it. Read posts that it's the wear on the contacts. Yanked the starter and opend up...one contact is worn, one not so much.
1985 2wd pickup, 78k original miles. 22R engine with carb and 4speed stick.
Called Capitol Toyota and they dont have any contact repair kits for this. Called Stevens creek and he said he can just look at parts to see if there is one that will match (kits...like $15 but he was not totally specific if it was exact matches).
Does anyone know the toyota part number for me to ask for?

well, i wanted it today, just to get it done.
The stealership showed me part 28226-74070. This part had the right copper components to fit both sides of my starter (85, 4sp, 22r). Cost was $17 each, so I spent $34 to get the copper pieces, which I have seen quoted as only being $5 from other posts.
Oh well, still a bargain to get it done for $34 on a 23 year old truck. And to boot, it's the first repair I've ever done on this truck in 8 years.
SUPER glad people wrote about this a million times so I didnt just go buy/order a complete starter from Toyota.
Dealer showed me other starter kits but they had different sized copper pieces. For my starter, both pieces look identical on both sides.
Hope that part number helps someone else.
