I've got water leaking out of my exhaust pipe. I assume it's leaking into the header from the exhaust port. I don't have A/C so it's not that. Bad Gasket??? rusted head.??

How much water you talking about?

H2O is a normal byproduct of combustion however it is usually in vapor form. You might have a bad headgasket. See if your coolant has oil in it

I haven't actually measured but at least a quart of water per week, depending how much i drive it. when its at idle i can see a constant water drip. I just changed the oil and there is no water in the oil. But how do you know when there is oil in the coolant?

becouse the coolant will look like muddy water! sounds like your hg is failing!
mine has been using water for a while. i use like almost a gallon a week. i still run the piss out of it. im gonna rebuild her soon anyway. as long as there is no water in oil or oil on water and your not overheating. then you could just keep on truckin. but you may save some money if you fix the problem now!

Yeah neither the oil or water are muddy. and i don't overheat. I also noticed i have an oil leak at the rear of the motor, would those be linked. or whole other problem

no. its probably the rear main seal! if its not leaking to bad then i would just run it untill i coudnt stand it. then just rebuild the whole thing! i love fresh motors!

If you were burning coolant there would be white smoke and a sweet smell, and most obvious the level in the rad would be dropping. Water dripping from the tailpipe at idle is normal. With the engine idling the exhaust system doesn't get hot enough to keep it vapourized and some condenses in the pipe.

Yeah i do loose a lot of water. More than normal I would think, at least a quart a week. I have had the truck for about 3 months. Twice i have seen white smoke at start up.

White smoke at startup is ok. That is oil that has dripped into the cylinders - your valve guides are probably a little worn. Once the engine warms up those tend to swell a little and seal better.

burnt oil is blue smoke. the white smoke is water! it would be from a bad hg or condinsation!

to set the record straight all vehicles I have ever seen smoke white for a few minutes after you start it.

Wow. Thanks guys for the input. I have determined to leave my header alone and move on to another problem, which I think is the carb. I am going to replace the fuel filter and go from there.

The catalytic converter -get this- converts harmful exhaust byproducts into water. When the motor is running a little rich at a cold idle there will normally be moisture in the exhaust. Sounds crazy but it's true.

My 4runner used to splatter water out of the tailpipe as well, but since I have replaced the Auxiliary Air Valve, the amount of water coming out of the tailpipe has been reduced. I'm assuming that since the valve was broken, it caused my truck to run rich.

Take the spark plugs out and shoot some air in each hole and see if water comes out. If a spark plug has broken ceramic, that's a sign of water. My 88 4runner blew the head gasket on no. 4, no water in the oil, it was going out the exhaust.

I just did a tune up and there was no broken ceramic. It's getting progressively worse though. I have to put more and more water in. And the other day at start up a lot came out at the header, but i haven't had much time to get in there.
