Yeah, they're the same thread (3/4" fine) and o-ring size. I use Toyota v8 oil filters on volvos, fords, vw 4-cyl, etc etc. No reason you couldn't fit a volvo filter on a toy, as long as there is room for the larger diameter (which there is).
The Toyota v8 filters are also very good quality units, and about $7/ea retail from Toyota. So use whatever you have on hand, then use whatever is priced better when you run out. Just stay away from Fram.

got a number on the v8 oil filter. whenever i go to the dealer they only ever have the yzzd1? the small cruddy one made in indonesia or w/e it is
