Towing Boat with 85 PU?

Hello All,

I saw several threads on towing with the 85 Yota PU, but none specific on performance related to boating. I am planning on towing about 2000lb (boat, motor, and trailer) < 5 miles to and from boat ramp, unloading, and loading boat.

Does anyone have any experience doing this? Should I expect things to work out OK as long as I am not planning on highway speeds or long hauls?

Thanks,

Dave

85 PU, short bed, 2wd, 4 speed, stock.

this is what I was pulling with a carbed 86

I don't know how heavy it was but it pulled fine my rear pinion seal was pretty bad and had a little leak after pulling that boat a few times I need to get another third member mine has developed a click and light clunk on take off.
but not only was I pulling the boat around the same time but I was mudding and wheeling at a local spot so both could have contributed to the third starting to fail.

where I live it is hilly I had to shift into 2nd on most hills but it pulled fine I am also in need of new brake pads soon that boat pushed me down most hills and my pads wore much faster then usual.
