Thoughts on Lifting 1985 4runner - 3 or 4 inches?

I picked up a 1985 4Runner recently. The PO put some very nice 33" Boggers on the runner but he never lifted - or re-geared. As you can imagine it runs horribly and topped out at 50.

I already dropped 4.88 gears in the rear and am waiting on a set for the front. That should fix the gearing issue which leaves me with the lifting.

I had originally planned to build bastard leaf packs using the stock packs and some leaves from some donor packs. My plan hit a snag when I pulled out the driver side rear and found it to be damaged. Thus I at least need to replace one spring entirely. Thus I am looking at either looking for some used springs and continuing with my plan or buying new lift springs all the way around.

I guess I am trying to determine which way to go at this point. At the very least I figure I am going to have to replace all the bushings on any stock leafs I pickup. Between that cost and the cost of a set of at least a pair of used rear springs, I am going to be getting into the neighborhood of the cost of new springs.

Anyone have an opinion on which would be the more prudent route? I am
Leaning towards all new springs at this point. Just looking for the opinion of someone that has been in a similar spot.

Lastly, is there any substantial difference in effect on the steering or any other issues between lifting 3 or 4 inches? The springs I am considering come in 3 and 4 inch varieties. Currently running 33x10.50x15s on stock wheels. May add some wheel spacers - 1.25 or 1.5 inch.

Thanks.

My plan is to just buy the rough country 3" complete lift with shocks for 285$, I am in need of new front springs and all shocks so I found this to be my best bet. plus it should work with your 33s

Thanks for the thought. I did look at that. It won't work for me though with a busted rear spring - unless I buy some used stock ones. At that point, I would again be nearing the price of four new springs.

I think I am going to just go ahead and scoop up four new Procomp 3" or 4" springs. They seem to get mixed reviews on here and other yota sites - if not slightly more negative as a result of stiffness. I'll figure out the shocks later - probably use what 4crawler did for his initial lift or something similar.

Ideally, I would like to do Chevy's in the rear and new springs or rear springs up front, but I just don't have the budget for the fab work in addition to the parts right now. I'd also like to get the 4runner back on the road asap.
