sputtering
My '87 Runner sputters at the top end of each gear before I shift. Other than that, the engine runs smooth.....any suggestions on what to do???

sounds like what our motorhome used to do (22RE). Turned out to be a alternator problem by not supplying enough power to run the fuel pump at high speeds. Basically its a fuel delivery problem. If you can test the fuel pressure while revving the engine, if the pressure drops as the engine sputters out, thats your problem. If it is, I would try replacing the fuel filter first. Otherwise its possibly a sensor problem. Somebody with a little more knowledge of EFI could help you out there. But I would do the fuel filter before anything
