Soft rear springs. Stock length.
I do not have room to move my rear shackle mounts backwards since the po welded on some sort of bumper mount that is in the way. I don't want to cut it off since I ended up using said bumper mount to connect my bumper to.
I have taken the top 3 leaves of an 83 spring pack, then used some of my 84 leaves (cut to length) to finish up the pack. Overall I like the height it gives me but they're a little stiff. I am looking for recommendations on springs I can buy that give lift and are pretty soft but are stock length, or only require moving the spring hangar not the shackle hangar. I'm also interested in the details of anyone else's custom rear spring packs with at least 3" of lift. Here's my rear setup at the moment.
From top to bottom leaf.
1. Main leaf 83 rear
2. 2nd leaf 83 rear
3. 3rd leaf 83 rear
4. 3rd leaf 84 rear (cut down)
5. 4th leaf 84 rear (cut down)
6. 1st main leaf 84 rear (cut down)
7. Short curved overload leaf 84 rear.
If I remove the overload leaf I get pretty good flex but I lose over an inch of height.
Wondering about 51" 3rd gen rears. Only have to move the front hangar?

As someone who is always building 4wd vehicles, its nice to know leaf spring dimensions, to see what will and will not work in certain projects.

Chevy 52's look pretty good to me. A stock yota rear spring is 27.5 from center to rear and the 52's are 26 from center to rear. So if I'm calculating this right I'll need to move the rear shackle hanger forward 1.5 inches and the front spring hanger 5.5 inches. This would be to keep the axle in the same place under the truck. I could be totally wrong. Anyone install these and have tips?
Well for now I have taken the top 3 wrapped leaves from an 83 and an entire waggy 7 leaf pack (I removed the main leaf and very bottom small leaf) and stacked them together. Works really well.
I think I'm going to try and go with 51" yota rears next.
