I checked into that and the answer that I keep coming across is no. From what I've heard the motor that you put in your truck has to meet three requirements: 1. It has to be from the same year of your vehicle or newer. 2. It had to have been offered in another vehicle by that same manufacturer 3. It has to be a complete swap, meaning the ECU and possibly the tranny from what I've heard. I'm not sure on that second one because I've heard both ways. I've heard that you can put any motor in any vehicle as long as you move the tranny and emissions equipment over. Then they just smog it according to the vehicle it came out of. Not sure though.

Here are the rules.

1. The engine must be newer or same year.

2. The smog equipment (from the 350) must be transfered to the vehicle, and be in working order. All stuff like exhaust and intake must match the pictures, the referee will be looking at.

3. Check engine and Diagnostic port must be working.

4. All aftermarket equipment must be smog legal and have an EO number.

The referee will do a visual inspection, then if all is good, print you a sticker.

Then you will take it to a smog place and smog it as normal.
