Shot bearings?

I had another thread about this but I think I may have misdiagnosed my problem. My entire truck has been shaking violently at seemingly random times, I thought it was the back wheels that were shaking since my steering wheel didn't seem to be affected at all by it, but earlier today I was driving and noticed that my wheel just wasn't shaking because there is a little bit of play in it, enough to not notice the shaking I guess. Someone said in my last thread that it could be a bent axle shaft or something, but I jacked up the back end and both tires spin freely without any wobbling. Anyhow, my front ball joints are leaking a lot and making little puddles of I guess the transmission fluid or whatever the hell is in there because it's leaking from the case too. My dad says the bearings are shot.

Could shot bearings cause violent random shaking? It doesn't happen at any particular speeds, pretty much anything over 30mph, and it happens noticeably more frequently when I am braking.
