Rear axle removal.
Hey guys,
I cracked my rear axle out in the bush a couple weeks back and I'm going to replace it this weekend. If anyone has done it before and could give me a tip or two on it to make my life easier it would be great fully appreciated. Any idea how long it will take to do a full swap out?

the entire housing or one axle shaft?
if you are just doing a single axle shaft,
-chock wheels, jack up truck, place on jack stands (you will die if you use cinder blocks)
-drain fluid at pumpkin
-remove e brake cable
-undo hard brake line
-remove the 4 bolts at the outer part of the axle housing
-pull out shaft
-swap your brake housing over to the new shaft (inspect bearings to make sure they are still good)
-refill diff
-reattach brake lines bleed brakes,
you can check out my build thread about mid way..have pics in there.
(link in sig)
or if you are doing a complete housing-
-pre soak all your bolts/nuts with liquid wrench or whatever
-make sure replacement gears match if you have a whole rear end
--chock wheels, jack up truck, place on jack stands (you will die if you use cinder blocks)
-remove the 4 drive line bolts at third
-remove e brake cables
-remove hard lines
-remove shocks
-remove ubolts (It is highly recommended that you replace the u bolts due to them stretching ( it)
-remove the entire housing
-reverse the order to install the replacement housing..
something along those lines
