possable valve problem 1984 22R

have been working on my toy and it is now almost done, i have been getting it ready for a small off road even next weekend,
i have had a loud valve noise at times and i was going to adjust the valves last night.

after getting the valve cover off i noticed number 2 and 3 intakes did not appear to be sitting on the valve right. the rocker arms is just bearly making contact with the valve.
the book i have shows a spacer for the 20R and i was wondering if the 22 R is suppose to also have one

Yes it is . They put a plastic or bak-o-lite type spacer in them and it wore into the side of the rocker arm , they then came out with a metal spacer that was in two pieces so you didnt have to remove the rocker arm assy. to replace them. So what you do is break the remaining spacer with pliers and install the metal spacer. Probably have to order these spacers.

And they do sit slightly offset so that the rocker arm come down on the side of the valve and spins it so it doesn't stay in the same place.

yes but this is more then off set
to even get number 2 on at least half of the valve i need at leats a 1/4 inch space

i have been told toyota makes a repair kits but other then that i have noidea

it appears some trucks have the spacers some do not, have not been able to find out any more that that yet

the part that rides on the cam is just bearly there about 1/8 of inch is all that is hitting the cam lobe the rest is totaly off

and it is only the 2 center intakes that appear to have these spacers
