Oil Pressure problem

Ive searched this forum but still cant find my problem.

I just rebuilt the engine with a new master rebuild kit whick included a new oil pump.

When I first start the engine (either hot or cold) I dont show any oil pressure and get alot of engine noise until the oil pressure comes up. It could take up to a minute of higher RPMs to see pressure but most often oil pressure comes up in about 15 - 30 seconds. It almost sounds like the oil is draining from the system and loosing prime when the engine it turned off.

Surely others have had this problem.

Any help is appreciated.. Im nervous about starting an engine with no oil pressure

Do you have an oil filter with an anti-drainback valve?

check your timing cover /top oil pump bolt !! (this is a pic of the back side)

if it is the wrong one , it could contact the tensioner , and hinder it's performance , and reduce oil pressure .

WRONG BOLT will go threw the cover

correct bolt , will NOT go threw the cover

Thanks, That may be causing my intermittent timing chain noise!
