New engine in my 85 4x4 ExtraCab

Last year the timing chain let go in my truck and I had it fixed by someone because I couldn't get the guides on. Anyway, dude sealed up the timing chain cover with liquid gasket and it leaked oil in to the coolant.
I thought the worst case scenario right off and came up on a long block for a good price & free delivery.

The valve cover came out looking great, it is the original.

She gets AC next week.

Great looking motor you have. Looking forward to seeing the truck it is going into. Welcome to Yotatech.

I am pretty sure this image is elsewhere on this Web site from this past winter before my suspension was rebuilt with new springs, sbocks, tie rod ends, steering stabilizer, rebuilt drag link, new brakes up front and the alignment made a world of difference.

I have come from the street bike world to enclose myself and sit comfortable with air conditioning and satellite radio because arthritis has taken away my ability to ride comfortably which makes it too dangerous to my CBX to take chances with anymore.
My truck is getting better every day and next is the AC.

So the engine runs great, she started and ran a little rough but, adjusting the timing smoothed her right out.
Now I am going to replace the clutch slave and then go drive her around for 100 miles before I take her to be smog checked for the DMV.

And now my truck has no more mechanical problems aside from a holy muffler pipe that will be fixed by Monday afternoon.
The slave cylinder was the problem and with a new $16.51 slave cylinder from my buddy's auto parts store has made my truck feel like she is new with the engine, clutch, new brakes, tires, shocks, springs, tie rod ends and an alignment.
New rear brake cylinders go in as soon as I get around to it.

Ebay is where I found the place and they are located in Compton, Los Angeles, CA.
I need to dig out dude's ebay seller name, I won't just give his phone number out online.
If I wanted to travel a few miles I could have bought a long block for $895.00 no core but, I wasn't going to push the old engine that far.
I'm going to change the oil & filter again today, cheap non detergent oil is what I use for break in and then I'm switching. to either Mobil 1 or Amsoil.
July 4th drive with wife up to Rowhers Flats.

The holy exhaust system had a better sound to it than the holey exhaust system did but, the new exhaust system sounds fantastic and makes me smile.

I changed the oil & filter yesterday and wow did it come out nasty after only 200 miles but, I am going to give her a good flush and then run either Amsoil or Mobil 1, I haven't made my mind up on which synthetic I'll use.

The engine runs stronger than ever now that she is fully broken in and now with new suspension she really feels like a new truck again.

Nice build, awesome looking truck. Liquid gasket on the timing chain cover???? ouch, really? I did mine last year and used the gasket that came with the kit and would never think of using any kind of liquid gasket, Permatex or Loctite gaskets.

I have been lagging on getting to my original engine for rebuild, my eBay engine is running stronger than ever and this time of year brings me a crapload of arthritic pain so the old 22R is sitting out there in the garage waiting for me to put the bottom end together.
I don't have the money to buy the head & cam I want now aanyway so, I might as well just leave it alone until I am feeling a bit antsy come January or February after I get my annual paycheck and have some money to burn.
