It really looks like the frame rust is in a critical spot so have someone with more experience do the work. If it's not done right that spring hanger's going straight through that rust. & Not to sound like a jerk, but would you tear into your house foundation if you didn't know how to fix it?? Same deal IMO, fix it right the first time & never worry about it again.....

Sweet looking Runner!! & at least it's CHEVY powered, unlike some I've seen with F-O-R-D crap.... haha!! Speaking of which, if you wanted to really decrease that body lift even more than you mentioned, that air cleaner could be swapped out for a lot shorter one. K&N now has a round air cleaner lid too, so you could get more of a ram air effect out of that hood....just an idea....

POR-15 would be the best bet for some of the rust, but in critical areas i would replace the metal and reinforce it, then coat it in POR-15

Thanks, and I am not going to attempt the frame repair, I will have a shop do it. I think I can drop the body lift down to 2" without too much trouble, I need to fix the rust in the floor panels to make it all solid again. I like the idea about the air cleaner, I think something is in order, will kick around a few ideas.
Thanks again.

make sure lowering the BL won't affect the clearance of the motor

there will be some clearance issues with the radiator to deal with, and when the frame is fixed it will get a coat of POR-15.

Been kind of busy, & still waiting for my mounting brackets...
I decided after grinding down some of the fenders to to take the sawzall to the rear fenders tomorrow. Knowing this truck is going to be wheeled, I am not going to put a lot of money into body work right now.

I set one of the new seats in to see how it would look...now where is the UPS guy with my brackets?...

Hopefully tomorrow...

Take it for what its worth...

Just a suggestion but I'd use an angle grinder with a cut off wheel if you have one available. I've done it both ways and the grinder is a little more controllable i think... 4" cut off wheels are 2$s at most and do alot cleaner job. Either way run some cheap painters tape on the good side of the cut and it will keep your paint from chipping for the most part...

Downfalls:
Sawzall - If it gets caught on something it'll either twist or send ripples through the sheet metal...
Grinder - The sparks sometimes tend to make the paint start to peel...

Some links that may be useful...

Random thought...

Check out how wabfab did his rear fender by folding the edge inward then to give himself a lip. I'm thinking if you did that for the fron it'd give something to mount the innerfender wall too... I wish i would have thought of that before cause otherwise your gonna layer where the hinges are mounted, for the door, in mud

Thanks, yeah I saw Wabbit's, very nice work. I am learning a lot from all of you on here. I won't be doing any work on mine this weekend, going to party with the gf for St. Patty's. I might get the seats in Sunday IF the brackets come. I still have to learn to weld before I hit the fenders anyway...
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What kind of seats are those? Cost? How do they mount?

Looking good. Trim those fenders and forget about them, but YES, do the lip.

The seats are "APC" (universal) from ebay, mounting brackets ordered from Wedge engineering, total cost with the Peak seat restraints should be around $550.00 for the set. I hope to have them installed (with pics & links) as soon as I get home on Wed/Thurs.

Sure, the back two are cracked on the bottom rear, the front ones are ok, no cracks. I will try to take some pics today.

Here are the pics of the flares, I checked again and only one is not cracked, and the mounting holes are cracked as well. I really wouldn't feel right selling them, but if you still want them I would just charge you shipping only. They are in rough shape at best.

mounting holes are mostly all cracked:

as are the flares:
