While waiting for my seats to arrive, I decided to pull off the old fender flares. They were cracked in places, and I was curious as to the condition of the wheel wells underneath...

Me (I don't let Tyler have all the fun...)

The Driver's side rear.

Driver's side front.

Tyler at work.
The pics of the rear didn't come out well, so I have to retake them tomorrow.
Overall, the rust was less than I had expected, I've seen worse, and only the passenger front fender was unharmed.

Oh- If anyone wants to see the truck in action, I have a short video clip. PM your email to me & I'll send it to you. I can't link to it here, unless anyone knows how.

Can you take a few more pics of the hood? Close-ups of the top and sides would be appriciated. Thanks.

Upload it to Putfile.com.

Is the 4 inch body lift required to fit the engine in there?

You could trim the fenders to remove the rust:

Where are you in SC? Looks like a nice rig, I would agree with ditching the 4" BL. Keep us posted with the build or repairs.

Thanks for the great info. A body lift is required to fit the engine/radiator, but I think I can get away with a 2" or 3". I had considered trimming the fenders, but have no experience in body/mechanical work, the link helped alot! And I uploaded the file to Putfile.com Here's the link. Keep in mind, this is the previous owner's vid, not mine.
Thanks again

I got the 5pt. seat restraints in yesterday. So I'm sure the seats will arrive next, and the mounting brackets LAST...
So I am deciding what to do with the rust issues. I pulled out the back carpet & side panels. Like I said, it is bad, but not a total loss. Sorry for no pics, my cam-phone is not working. I did include a few of the rust I found on the frame. That will have to be repaired before any off-road trips.

Inside of the frame, just above the spring mount. It is about a 1 foot section along the bottom of the frame. After finding this, I checked the whole frame & didn't find any more. see new pics.

Yeah, I know!
The wheel wells had your basic rust for a 21 year old truck, but not as bad as I had expected. Body "surprises" I can live with, I just hope I dont find any major ones with the engine & trans. when I have it tuned up & checked out.
I am trying to decide if I want to try & repair the frame myself or have it done at a shop. I have no proir exp. in welding.

The rear bumper is a Smittybuilt/Rally? I think they are pretty common on ebay and aftermarket supply sites. I plan to install a Stout rear bumper. The same goes for the Westin side-step bars in favor for some rock sliders from All-Pro or Marlin Crawler. For now they will stay until the frame issue is fixed. Then I will prob sell 'em cheap.

Who shows up today, but my favorite person...the UPS guy. I got the new seats in, and now I have to wait for the mounting brackets. When everything gets here I will document the installation on a new thread.

Here's a pic of what will be going in...

Thanks, I have been thinking about fiberglass. I think it would help offset the center of gravity being higher when I install a full cage. I am searching some different threads to get some info on people who have used it.
