84-85 Trucks & 4Runners 2nd gen pickups and 1st gen 4Runners with solid front axles

im doing rears up front and i have a question

im doing rears up front and i have a question

this is for and 84, so anyway i have my stock 84 springs that i will use up front but i still need to get another set to stiffen it up a bit so will 90 springs work? i read th FAQ on pirate and it said this
84-88 Toyota Rear
Flat length = 48"
Front Half = 20.5"
Rear Half = 27.5"
Width = 2.36"
Front Eyelet = 14mm ID
Rear Eyelet = 18mm ID


89-95 Toyota Rear
Flat length = 51"
Front Half = 21.5"
Rear Half = 29.5"
Width = 2.36"
Front Eyelet = 14mm ID
Rear Eyelet = 18mm ID

so will they work or do i need the older style srpings? thanks for all help in advance

They will work fine. You will be cutting them to fit any way.
Just use the '84 springs for the main set and the '90 springs for the fillers(cut Add ins)

i cut each spring 4" shorter than the previous one...

you should post up your progress, I was thinking of doing the same, just seems like a lot of work, and $$$$, you have to have the high steer setup to run RUF, that is the only factor holding me back, well... good luck!

OR... J-arm ball flip,
AND/OR... Shorten a drag link for temporary use(just don't flex it too much).

i read that somewhere...
but seriously, i was ... wouldn't you be able to re-pack front springs with other leafs to make lift or articulation, rather than swapping the rears up?
I know it probably has been thought of, but what is the reason of not doing that... seems like less work ... again

well my front springs are frowning so thats why im doing it, also you dont need hysteer its just better. ill be using a drop drag link for now until i can afford crossover steering. maybe ill post pics of my progress but it will be a little while because im getting all the parts together before i start( doing chevys in the rear).

you're my hero!!! my front springs have no flex or movement what-so-ever

... i've had the impression that those mods were tough and expensive, but like every other day, ya learn somethin new...

Stock front springs are almost flat, maybe 1"-2" of free arch if that and they are thick/stiff. And they are short and the spring center pin hole is centered front-rear. The rear springs move the axle forward 2" and are 2" longer and have boat loads more free arch and they flex like crazy. Easy to build up a pack that gives you whatever lift and flex you want:
