How to fix Steering linkage

1990 DLX 2 dr RWD, 120,000 miles. How do I fix this? It looks like DIY. I don't see any diagrams on net showing this link from center link to idler arm. Although all joints are tight the center link is easily pulled up and down by hand. It is like there is supposed to be a big bushing or something where thaty shiny part of rod is. Can someone tell me what is wrong? Also, I am a newbee; i don't know if i get notification of response so am including email address

I]It looks like that piece is too long for that use OR like I said, something is missing but no toyota parts sites show it nor does 93 FSM site.

Red face

Looks like the ball and socket on the relay rod is pulling apart.

The idler arm should be tight against

What does the other end look like??

It is possible the wrong relay rod is installed

I don`t have a 2wd on the 4x4 the idler arm bolts through the relay rod.
