How do I decipher what year my 22r block is??

I want to try the hybrid engine but it seems like I need a 84 or older block. I have two blocks that arent original to the trucks. I dont know what year truck they came out of. How do I find out is there a way to decipher the stamping number on the driver side of the block? Or the number on the under side of the block by the oil pan?

Hmmmm, Curious on this one. Mine is definitely the original block I just took out. It has a 22***** Serial number, but underneath, as you mentioned, is says something like "20R***". Kinda threw me, lol.

I think the number should be good if you call Toyota and give it to them? I was just reading on here somewhere that the height from Deck to Crank casting and deck to bottom are different on 85-95 blocks than 84 and under 22r's. Also, 85 and up heads are shorter. The 20r Head thing you're doing is supposed to instantly UP the compression, correct?

Sorry, just curious as well, lol.

Best wishes on this!

Ive read if you put 22r valves in the 20r head it and put it on the 22r block you have tons of compression and it brings it up to like 180hp. Thats kinda why I wanna try the hybrid. I havnt heard anything bad about it
