Howzit,everybody having trouble with my 95 toyota 4runner 3.0 my gauges fuse keep blowing at first it would blow every other day but it just kept on getting worse now as soon as i start it up it blows seems like it could be a ground but where do i start looking any help would be greatly appropriated much mahalo HAWAII GUY

I had a short in the tail light harness the caused this with my '86.

This sounds wierd, but my reverse light sensor (on the side of the transmission) was shorting out and blowing my fuse. I ended up pulling it out, and wiring the reverse lights to a toggle. That solved my problem.

I just had the same problem the other day... all I had to do was replace the negative battery cable. No more blown fuses.

I had the same problem with my 85 truck. There was a un insulated wire on the passenger side of the trans that kept hitting the driveshaft. Once I rewired it no more problem.

Okay... so I'm having there same sort of issues and with my 90 4Runner

its slightly worse but, as to the gauges fuse blowing and having un installed wires in that same location... my question is where is it you reconnected them to? I have bare wires but no other bare connections...

Which fuse drives the gauges on an '85 truck? Is it the same one as the tail lights?

Also, if you buy the plug in LED version of the 1157, does it require any special wiring/relay/resister or whatever??

Had this same issue with my 85 and looking over the wiring diagram, seems the back up lights share the same fuse (labeled engine in fuse box)
Well turns out the wire rubbed on the transmission rib and wore through the insulation and shorted to ground fixed that and no more problems.
Not sure if your year truck is wired the same but if it is, I would check there.

The protective sleeve can also move just enough to let the wire rub the transmission and short it out. Usually with in a quarter of an inch of the plug on the top side was my experience. ( twice on two different trucks)
