Evaporator Pigtail/Harness Question
Hi,
I'm in the process adding AC to my 85 SR5 Pickup Extended Cab and one of the evaporator pigtail/harness connectors doesn't match the one in my truck. The red circle is the connector in my truck, the yellow is the the connector from an 86 4runner I picked. Any ideas on how to best approach my issue?
1) Try and find the correct/pigtail
2) Try and hard wire the 2 together.
The connector in my truck has 4 wires, while the other has 5 wires. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know what it's for, but I did read on the forum that the difference in pigtails/harnesses is due to the option if you had a towing package or not. But it could be just a ground wire, I'm not sure. I've tried to review the wire diagrams, but it was way too complex for my brain. Lol

What I do in cases like this is just buy a male and female connector that has the amount of pins I need
Good to go
This is the plug coming from the AC amplifier ( AC computer)
The 6 pin plug is for the towing package 4 pin is w/o towing packag
both # 6and #4 Light blue wire go to the VSV coil to idle up
As they both go through a few more plugs
now the odd wire in the in the M1 plug 6pin is # 3 ( green) that goes to the AC thermo switch which signal the AC amplifier needs to see
OP you need to get up to speed reading schematics Toyota has about the easiest ones around
Good luck

I have a question related to the photo in this post. I have a 1985 4x4 EFI pu and while replacing my evaporator I noticed the small box with a section of the harness pictured plugged into it. on the box is a knob with RPM and a + & - directional arrow embossed in the plastic. The knob is visible just to the right of the yellow circle just below 3 clock position in the photo jbcarruth included in his post.
I messed up by adjusting this knob thinking that it would adjust the blower speed for my A/c / heater. I believe that I changed the idle up speed of my engine. It seems to still effect engine speed with A/C turned off. Naturally I paid no attention to the position of the knob before I messed with it.
Is there a procedure to adjust this correctly?
What is the name of this box?
What is its function?
I have the knob at about the mid point of travel now, the idle is now close to working as before but I think that my idle speed is still being messed up and being effected by this board.
Thanks for any advice that you have

Thanks Now that have learned its name and functions I now understand how to adjust it. The fact that it also monitors the a/c pressure switch and cuts out the compressor when the pressure switch commands in addition to being triggered by idle speed helped me to understand how, when and why it was cycling before I messed with it.
Thanks again,
Dmanx
