It's very east to put the manual window guts in your doors. I did it on my 86 and love the crank windows.

How do you take apart the door and get at the internals? It looks like the outside is kind of folded around the inside panel and that is whats keeping it together. |

You just need to remove the door panel, armrest, window crank, to remove the internal parts. You do not remove the "door skin".

Ay... if your crank door has the little triangular window I'm pretty sure that comes out first.
Now that I think about it, you could wire in the hot wires for those window motors into a keyed-on device. That way the motors only work when the key is in the RUN position. BUT, thats up to you. WIndow motors go out over a matter of a few years. Cranks last forever.

Yeah the crank doors have the little triangle part on them and my electric doors just have one large window. Im assuming I can still switch it out? And I'am still confused as to how you can take everyting out with the door skin still on. I've looked at it before and I don't know exactly how everything is fastened together in there and if I can reach everything with tools.

Pull off all weather stripping (minus the rubber between door and jambs). The "wing window" also serves as the forward track for the big piece. You'll need to remove the "rear track" so the large window can be moved backwards... allowing room to wiggle the vent window out. You unbolt the vent window from the inside door skin, put the big piece all of the way down, find the 3 screws holding the vent window in, somewhere along the top and attempt to tilt the triangular piece backwards and out. You may have to pop the big window from its regulator (usually its two rollers inside teh window's bottom track) and force the window down more. You need to be really careful as I have scratched up the door on my Chevy too many times! Everything should be able to go into the new door, but I would check to make sure that the factory has all ready pre-drilled the holes for the vent window.

I don't want to put the triangle window setup in my other truck I just want the manual crank setup. Is it compatible with the single window doors? I don't even have two vent windows one got smashed out.

yes ... the door shells are the same .. wether they have the vent windows or not ..
couple of differences will be the door belt moldings .. with the vent window , they are shorter then the regular non vented window . all the holes are there to locate the new regulators for the manual windows .. there will be NO Problem with doing the swap . everything is a direct swap , considering you have the correct parts .

So I started to do this swap but the vent window door crank won't work with the non vent window. This is because since the window is bigger and has a difference balance point than a vent window when you go to roll everything up the front of the window will fall down out of the track. The non vent windows require two arms and a longer strip that clamps on the window and this helps them stay balanced and in the track. So my question is are there non vent crank windows? If so I will just go and try to find one of those in a junkyard.

There are 2 different regulators for manual windows, One is for doors with wing windows and the other is for doors without wing windows.
You will also need the correct inner door panels for the style of door you have as there are also 2 different manual window door panels. Hope that helps! Robb
